     Application Review Team Manager

    a. Job Responsibilities:

    • Tracks receipt of Breastfeeding Counselor (BC) applications and their progress up to candidacy
    • Communicates with BC applicants and recommenders to ensure application materials are submitted and complete and to answer their questions about the application process
    • Assigns phone interviews to application team volunteers
    • Conducts phone interviews as needed
    • Changes applicants’ website user role to allow them to pay the BC education fee
    • Communicates with application team members as needed to ensure timely workflow
    • Participates in application review process with other team members to decide whether to accept or decline applications
    • Acts as liaison to Education Committee as needed (e.g., committee conference calls)
    • Communicates with BC Candidates Team Manager to hand off new candidates to her
    • Trains new application team volunteers in team’s work processes, including interviewing procedures; gives new volunteers access to necessary online resources
    • Prepares weekly report on applicant and candidate numbers and progress for Education Committee

    b. Job Requirements:

    • Strong communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Daily (at least) Internet access and basic computer skills
    • Acts professionally; often the Application Review Team Manager is the first Breastfeeding USA representative with which a BC applicant and her recommenders have direct contact
    • Completes small tasks promptly on an ongoing basis

    c. Estimated Time Commitment:

    • Varies depending on rate of new applications and recommendations submitted, interviews being conducted, etc.; averages 5-8 hours/week

     Application Review Team Member

    a. Job Responsibilities:

    • Conducts phone interviews as needed
    • Communicates with Application Review Team Manager as needed to ensure timely workflow
    • Reads and evaluates applications and personal recommendations based on the Personal Experience Prerequisites
    • Participates in application review process with other team members to decide whether to accept or decline applications

    b. Job Requirements:

    • Active, accredited Breastfeeding Counselor
    • Strong communications skills, both phone and email
    • Establishes rapport, elicits information, and represents Breastfeeding USA accurately in phone interviews, or willingness to learn these skills
    • Regular Internet access and basic computer skills

    c. Estimated Time Commitment:

    • Averages two interviews (=+/- five hours) per month; varies depending on team’s workload but is flexible according to availability
