Funding & Development Coordinator
a. Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for all funding and development efforts for Breastfeeding USA
- Ensures that Breastfeeding USA has filed all required forms and paid all necessary fees to register with each state identified by the Treasurer to solicit contributions
- Coordinates solicitation drives for pledges from individual donors, corporations and foundations, and corporate matching programs
- Coordinates direct mail campaigns
- Coordinates special funding and development events (e.g., banquets or auctions)
- Oversees database of Breastfeeding USA donors, prospective donors, campaigns, and the respective donor history
- Directs donor recognition program; communicates with and supports Breastfeeding USA donors
- Provides estimates for donation revenues and funding and development expenses for the annual budget
- Works in accordance with Breastfeeding USA financial policies and procedures to protect and secure Breastfeeding USA assets and financial information and donors’ personal information
- Ensures committee works in accordance with policies and procedures
- Chairs Funding and Development Committee and also serves on Finance Committee
- Recruits, supports, and oversees other Funding and Development Committee staff and volunteers

- Understands budgets and financial statements
- Experience in funding and development, solicitation, direct mail campaigns, and grant applications
- Understands database software and spreadsheets
- Good managerial skills
c. Estimated Time Commitment:
- 10-20 hours per month
Donations Manager
a. Job Responsibilities:
- Member of the Funding and Development Committee
- Supports all staff members working towards the goal of fundraising through donations. Works with the Funding and Development chair to coordinate giving efforts, donation campaigns and donor e-newsletter
- Tracks website store transactions involving donations and transfers to database
- Corrects store transactions as needed (due to website store problems, user confusion, incomplete orders, etc.)
- Maintains spreadsheet or database of Breastfeeding USA donors, prospective donors, campaigns, and donor history
- Reports regularly; interprets data as needed for reports and analysis
- Directs donor recognition program; communicates with and supports Breastfeeding USA donors
- Sends acknowledgement letters to donors
- Responds to questions and concerns from donors or prospective donors
- Sends fundraising appeal letters (year-end campaign, spring campaign, etc.)
- Ensures that timely information about donation issues are communicated via a variety of Breastfeeding USA communication tools
b. Job Requirements:
- Enjoys customer service and building relationships
- Competent with database software and/or spreadsheets, word processing, and email or willingness to learn
- Works in a timely manner, and is responsive to email communication
- Good writing skills
c. Estimated Time Commitment:
- 8-15 hours per month, depending on giving season
Grants Specialist
a. Job Responsibilities:
- Researches public and private grant agencies and foundations
- Prepares all required forms and documentation to submit grant applications
- Monitors grant status and coordinates receipt and recognition of grant funds
- Follows up with grantor agencies as appropriate
b. Job Requirements:
- Understands budgets and financial statements
- Experience with grant applications
c. Estimated Time Commitment:
- 0-5 hours per week
State Registrations Coordinator
a. Job Responsibilities:
- Files with all states requiring state charitable registrations
- Maintains records of certificates
- Keeps up to date with each state's filing requirements
b. Job Requirements:
- Understands government forms and reporting requirements
- Able to meet filing deadlines
- Basic computer skills
- Organized; attention to detail
c. Estimated Time Commitment:
- 1 hour per week
